The Sunrise Music Department annual cookie dough sales are January 18th to January31st.. Students are raising money to help cover the costs of music, instruments, and maintenance of our music equipment. Delivery will be Feb. 29th.

JANUARY 31: Kearney High School would like to invite parents to an informational meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the KHS auditorium. The 9th grade registration process will be explained.
FEBRUARY 2 and 3: The high school counselors' distribute registration materials for 9th grade.
FEBRUARY 16 and 17: The high school counselors collect student registration forms.
The Kearney High School Summer School program is now open for enrollment to incoming freshman. Kearney High is offering students the opportunity to earn five high school credits in just three weeks this summer. The KHS ‘5-in-3’ Summer School gives students the opportunity to catch up or move ahead on needed credits. PE, Algebra, Health, Poly Sci, and Information Technology will be offered in a condensed classroom format from May 21-June 8. Students who want to make room in their schedules for additional classes or students who need to retake courses are encouraged to register. The 5-credit courses are $125. 324 students from 50 different schools auditioned for the all state 84-piece band. The event will take place on Saturday, January 14th, 2012 in the Fine Arts Building at the University of Nebraska in Kearney.
Eleven students were selected from Sunrise to participate in “Singing Youth of Nebraska Honor Choir 2011”. The festival will take place at the Tassel in Holdrege on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Randy Pagel, a nationally-known middle school vocal teacher from Henderson, Nevada will work with the kids all day and perform with a concert at 4:00 p.m.
Five students at Sunrise have been accepted into honors choirs that will take place in Madison, Wisconsin February 9-11, 2012. The North Central-American Choral Directors Association is sponsoring the choirs with a music convention for vocal teachers in conjunction with the honor choirs.
Sing Around Nebraska
Ten 6th graders were selected into the Sing Around Nebraska Honor Choir this year taking place on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Merryman Performing Arts Center. Students will work and polish their music with 200 students from surrounding towns and present a concert at 4:00 p.m.
Sunrise is collecting BOX TOPS and SUNMART RECEIPTS. Please send box tops and SunMart grocery receipts to school with your student. SunMart gives Sunrise $1000.00 for every $150,000.00 in receipts. Great ways the school can purchase items for the classrooms.
