SPANISH I - 8th grade
Spanish I is the equivalent to Spanish I at the high school. Level I is an important first step in second language acquisition. Students will learn basic knowledge of the language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. An integrated, hands-on curriculum is used to introduce vocabulary and sentence structure necessary in building beginning conversational skills. The course also emphasizes the study of Hispanic countries, customs and cultures.
Suggested prerequisites for success:
· C or better in 7th grade Spanish Introduction class
· C or better in English and Reading courses
INTRODUCTION TO SPANISH - 7th grade
This class covers many areas of the Spanish language and culture. The students will participate in different learning activities that are meant to be fun as well as educational. We will learn about greetings, numbers, weather, food, months/days, dates, cognates, time, and class items, along with other aspects of the Spanish culture.
PASSPORTS - 6th grade
This beginning course introduces students to the foundation of the Spanish language. Students will learn basic phonetic sounds to help with the pronunciation. Simple phrases and expressions are taught along with themed vocabulary units. This exploratory class will allow students to engage in simple conversations and to participate in hands-on activities that are fun and educational. Students will also learn about Hispanic culture and the countries that speak Spanish.
