Brennan Heelan, SMS, 8-4 Science
After graduating from Kearney State College with a degree in Physical Science and Chemistry, I worked as a Chemist at two different facilities in Omaha (one manufacturing, one lab testing). After those experiences, I returned to UNK and earned my teaching certificate. I began my teaching career in Valentine NE, teaching Physical Science, Chemistry & Physics in a 9-12 building. Then I taught in Leavenworth KS teaching Chemistry at the High School level before moving back to Kearney where I taught Physical Science and Chemistry labs at UNK as a graduate assistant while earning my Masters degree in Education Administration. Finally in 2002, I began teaching 8th grade science at Sunrise Middle School.
8-4 science classes are during periods 2,3,4, & 8 and the curriculum in place for K-8 in KPS is the Amplify curriculum which exposes students to Life, Physical, & Earth science concepts using a variety of hands-on and virtual experiments as well as intensive though sharing and writing exercises.
Having and keeping Chromebooks charged is critical to student success in class as we rely heavily on these devices nearly every day.
