band
Nov. 24th at 7:30pm in the Sunrise Middle School gym
6th, 7th, & 8th grade band students and the SMS jazz band will perform a variety of music. The concert is open to the public.

Term 1 grade reports will be sent home with students on Thursday, Nov 20th.

Winter Orchestra Concert December 4th at the World Theater. 

5:30pm: 5th grade     
6:30pm: 6th grade
    
7:00pm: 7th & 8th grade

Grades 5-8 will perform their annual Winter Concert. The concert is open to the public. 

Honor Roll
328 students qualified for Term 1 Honor Roll.  
100 students achieved all A's.  201 students are on the B+ Honor Roll and 27 are on the B Honor Roll.
Honor Rolls are posted by the office, published in the school newsletter and the Kearney Daily Hub.

The honor roll is calculated for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at the end of each term. Honor Roll is calculated by using their total Grade Point Average (GPA). Students with a grade of ‘U', 'D’, ‘F’, or ‘I’(incomplete) do not qualify for Honor Roll.
Honor Roll students are recognized at the following levels:
A Honor Roll = A in all subjects                                                                          
B+ Honor Roll = Grade Point Average of 3.2 to 4.0.
B Honor Roll = Grade Point Average of 3.0 to 3.19.

health report
HEALTH REPORT CARDS
The school nurse and University of Nebraska at Kearney Human Performance Lab students obtained height and weight measurements on each middle school student. A health report card will be sent via your e-mail address on file. For students who do not have an e-mail address reports will be mailed. Please contact your school nurse about questions or concerns.
illness
Students with a temperature of 100 degrees or more shall not be in school. Students need to be fever free for 24 hours without taking fever reducing medicine before returning to school.
Students that are ill with vomiting and diarrhea in the morning should not come to school in the afternoon.

HyVee Receipts CASH FOR STUDENTS Fundraising Program
Bring your HyVee receipts dated November 3, 2014 through March 1, 2015 to the Sunrise office. HyVee will give Sunrise $1.00 for every $200.00 in receipts!

Sunrise Information
CELL PHONE POLICY Cell phones can not be used by students in the school building. Student cell phones must be turned off and in the student's locker during the school day. 1st offense: phone is confiscated and a parent must pick it up. 2nd & additional offenses: a parent may pick up after 5 school days from the school office.

STUDENT ACTIVITY TICKETS  Activity Tickets admit students to all regular season football, basketball, volleyball games and wrestling meets at Sunrise and Horizon Middle Schools and Kearney High School.  Activity Tickets can be bought at the school offices. 
LEAVING SMS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY  If your child is leaving school for an appointment or other pre-planned absence, please send a note with your child. All students are signed out at the office. Students must stop at the office and sign back in when they return. If your child will be leaving with someone other than yourself, please indicate who will be picking them up in your note.
MEDICATION REMINDER   ALL over-the-counter and prescription medication taken at school must have the school form completed by a parent/guardian before the medication can be given.  Medication must be in the original container. Notes from parents will not be accepted in place of the school form.

Sunrise is collecting BOX TOPS, APPLE MARKET RECEIPTS, & FAMILY FRESH (Sunmart) RECEIPTS.  Please send your box tops and grocery receipts to school with your student. With your help the school can purchase additional items for the classrooms.
Sunrise school newsletters can be sent to your e-mail.  If you would prefer e-mail instead of a paper copy please contact the school office at 308/698.8155 or e-mail the registrar at lostrand@kearneycats.com.
Lost and found items will be placed on a table in front of the office the last week of every month.  The items left will be donated to the needy.
