March 2nd at 7:30pm in the Sunrise Middle School gym
6th, 7th, & 8th grade band students and the SMS jazz band will perform a variety of music. The concert is open to the public.

TIME TO REGISTER FOR 2015-2016
THURSDAY, MARCH 5:
2015-2016 registration forms, including a course description booklet, will be given to current 6th and 7th grade students. The 6th graders will also receive a 7th grade physical form that needs completed by a doctor before it is returned.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11: All forms must be returned even if you do not plan to attend Sunrise next year.

MATH PLACEMENT TESTING
6th grade Math teachers will be administering the Orleans Hanna Algebra Prognosis Test to the current 6th grade students during the week of February 23rd - 27th.áThis test will be used to assist in placing students in the appropriate math class for next school year.áAlong with the Orleans Hanna test, teacher recommendation and achievement test scores will be determining factors.

ILLNESS
Students with a temperature of 100 degrees or more shall not be in school. Students need to be fever free for 24 hours without taking fever reducing medicine before returning to school.
Students that are ill with vomiting and diarrhea in the morning should not come to school in the afternoon.

HyVee Receipts CASH FOR STUDENTS Fundraising ProgramáBring your HyVee receipts dated November 3, 2014 through March 1, 2015 to the Sunrise office. HyVee will give Sunrise $1.00 for every $200.00 in receipts!
SUNRISE INFORMATION
CELL PHONE POLICY Cell phones can not be used by students in the school building. Student cell phones must be turned off and in the student's locker during the school day. 1st offense: phone is confiscated and a parent must pick it up. 2nd & additional offenses: a parent may pick up after 5 school days from the school office.

STUDENT ACTIVITY TICKETS

Activity Tickets admit students to all regular season football, basketball, volleyball games and wrestling meets at Sunrise and Horizon Middle Schools and Kearney High School.á Activity Tickets can be bought at the school offices.á

LEAVING SMS DURING THE SCHOOL DAYá If your child is leaving school for an appointment or other pre-planned absence, please send a note with your child. All students are signed out at the office. Students must stop at the office and sign back in when they return. If your child will be leaving with someone other than yourself, please indicate who will be picking them up in your note.
MEDICATION REMINDERáá ALL over-the-counter and prescription medication taken at school must have the school form completed by a parent/guardian before the medication can be given.á Medication must be in theáoriginal container. Notes from parents will not be accepted in place of the school form.

Sunrise is collecting BOX TOPS, APPLE MARKET RECEIPTS, & FAMILY FRESH (Sunmart) RECEIPTS.á Please send your box tops and grocery receipts to school with your student. With your help the school can purchase additional items for the classrooms.
áSunrise school newsletters can be sent to your e-mail.á If you would prefer e-mail instead of a paper copy please contact the school office at 308/698.8155áor e-mail the registrar at lostrand@kearneycats.com.

Lost and found items will be placed on a table in front of the office the last week of every month.á The items left will be donated to the needy.
